Modern offices in Paris

Fitting solutions for office spaces

Ateliers ARKAL was asked to fit out a 3-storey office space, bringing together a company’s two Parisian locations into a single collaborative hub. The total area that required fitting out and furnishing was 2,500 m2.

The key challenge was meeting the ambitious deadline. Initial discussions took place in summer 2021, with project completion set for December.

How did we achieve this? Through meticulous project management, the expertise of our design office, and a commitment to excellence.

Demonstrating flexibility and precision

The project’s architect defined the overall mood and produced blueprints detailing the desired standards for finishes and materials. Our role was to analyse these plans and turn them into manufacturable solutions. This required substantial input from our design office, which meticulously worked through fifty individual plans – one per element – each undergoing multiple revisions to secure final approval from all stakeholders.

To ensure the feasibility of certain parts and help in the decision-making process, we produced 12 prototypes.

During the design phase, whenever our team came up against technical constraints, we provided the client with alternative solutions. For this project, thanks to our in-depth knowledge of materials and suppliers, we were able to suggest several robust options while preserving the architect’s original vision. This was a truly collaborative endeavour, where technical and functional expertise aligned seamlessly with design ambition.

During the operational phase, a weekly on-site meeting brought together the head of the project, the architect and the Ateliers ARKAL account manager. These regular check-ins, combined with clear scheduling oversight, ensured the project moved forward efficiently and on time.

Bespoke multi-material creations

For this project, Ateliers ARKAL crafted 50 custom furniture pieces, including meeting tables, a tea and coffee corner, bench seating, bars, office panelling, compact workspace modules, glass partitions, and more.

Wood – our primary material – was used in various forms, from solid wood to veneer, laminate, melamine, and plywood, with oak or birch finishes according to the architect’s specifications.

Wood was often paired with other materials to bring the architect’s vision to life. Mirror, metal, leather, marquetry, marble, brushed stainless steel, lacquer, varnish, sheet metal, fabric, resin… these materials were artfully combined to create a stunning, high-quality product. We delivered these designs with the help of trusted local partners with whom we have a long-standing relationship and whose craftsmanship is well established.

We installed the furniture in the priority areas in December 2021 so that the Ekimetrics staff could move into the offices. The finishing touches were completed in February 2022.

This project demonstrates that excellent management and technical expertise, combined with clear and consistent communication with all parties, can bring any vision to life.
